Why Locally-Sourced Food?
A question our new American restaurant gets a lot (and for good reason). Why go through all of the effort to get locally-sourced food? (Note: we define local as being within 500 miles of one of our restaurants). Simply put, a local food system is a more resilient one. We’re united by people who are part of more than farm to table restaurants. Naked Farmer has become a shared belief that access to real food — picked recently enough to enjoy its full set of nutrients, harvested nearby to keep transportation to a minimum, cooked by chefs who know their vegetables and served with healthy dining hustle -- shouldn’t be hard to find.
We are united by the power of farmers, chefs and a a belief in a future that’s better for the planet, and our body. We are a team that comes together to create the fresh, vegetable-forward, earth-friendly meals we serve. Naked Farmer was created to stand at the intersection of community and economy, building a local supply chain with farms in Florida and the greater Southeast region. This local supply chain creates a sustainable model that can support the community with the fresh vegetables they need, day in and day out.
Our mission is to connect farmers to the community, and we do it through food. We buy food from farmers we know on a first-name basis, cook it with love, and sell it to our community. We put extra effort in to purchase from small and medium-size farms, using our buying power to support sustainable growing practices and invest in the future of farming. This is how we build a better local economy, build up a better local food supply, and cook food that was harvested days (not weeks) ago. We call it the "Naked Way."
Thanks for believing in Naked Farmer. Your support makes our work possible and we’re so grateful to share this journey to 100% local-sourcing with you.
